i HATE the keyboard, i think its a poor effort, and the black around the screen? i love the fact that they are following with Powerbook / Macbook Pro finish.. its nice to see and just screams quality!

but the keyboard.. :(

Ipod video 30 gb/ Macbook Pro 2.2...... iphone up next i know
i like the new imac design its very different. The only thing i don't know about is that keyboard. I don't plan on buying a desktop anytime soon. My concern is if i should just wait to buy my MBP until october or try and get it in the next few weeks. I am a student so i would get the $200 off but they are all in the refreb section now for even less than the student discount.

Personally for me liking the new line of imacs are a step forward and backward.

Inside it's a plus all the way. Much better than the old imacs. Though the new 24" graphics card. Is it better then the old 24" graphics card. For gamers GPU is sometimes more important then CPU. But other than that it's a win all the way. A small win as the specs aren't greatly better than the old imac. But better is better.

Outside. The looks. Sure this is just my opinion. But I'm not a fan of the new looks. I always thought a glossy screen was easier to keep clean than a matt one. But since apple are including a cleaning cloth with the new imac it made me wonder. Is it reaally that scratch resistant? I'll have to one day take a look and see. And how is glare on these screens? I've got a really mixed reaction on this topic. Personally I prefer the matt screens. And a question. If some crasy mac user cut out the glass covering the screen on the new mac, would that look then just like a matt screen?

And I was never a fan of the notebook keyboards. I really like the old imac white keyboard. Well it's hard to clean apart from removing all the keys. But with 30-60mins free time that's not that hard. If any jink jets trapped inbetween the tiny jap between the keys and fals down there I think it'd be really hard to get out. And yes I like a quiet keyboard which notebooks are, but I also like to feel the keys being pressed. It's almost like pressing on a mat. Hard to tell if the key is actually pressed. I mean from feel from the fingers. Of course you can look at the screen too.

And look of whole thing. I think is kinda ugly. And from a looks point of view. All 3 parts of the old mac (screen, keyboard and mouse) are like 3 parts of a matching set. The new mac looks like a platypus. The best of everyworld all shoved and glued together without asthetics taken into account. And in those ultra moderm homes I think the white looked kinda sheik. Like it was nice to look at when it was turned off. Not so with the new imac.

And in many places the People are going on about how the new imac is smaller and weigs less than the old one. So what. It's a desktop. Not meant to be ported around everywhere. The old one had a nice footprint and weight. Sure smaller and lighter is nice always, but not critical for a desktop.

Personally I say Inside it's awesome for everyone bar hardcore gamers. But they aren't in the imac market anyways so that's cool. But on the outside, a downward step in my opinion.

Personally I'm happy with my old C2D 17" imac. And I'll wait for the next imac upgrade in a few years. I'm goad I got in before the new imacs. The first time ever I wasn't wowed over by a new mac that was released. And that's a really strange feeling.

My last word. I think the prices of the old 2006 C2D imac range will really increase on ebay now. As people I think would still want one.

Are you guys serious? That's what I like the most about the new model design wise... Why didn't they change the mouse and remote color as well is a mystery to me though.
