Hey folks, one of the downsides to my bargainous Powermac G4 purchase, was the flap/fascia on the front of the case that covers the DVD drive from view won't stay up, the original owner said about a spring?!

Any idea's how to fix it? Not a big problem just kind of annoying.
Cheers
Alex

Yes, there is suppose to be a spring on the door that keeps it closed. If it's missing, I think it will be a pain in the a** to try to custom-fashion a new one...

It's a coil-on-spindle spring and, as said, a real pain to replace, or to repair, because you have to get at it from within the casing. You might try seeking out an old, derelict G4 just for parts, including a replacement OD flap.

Another idea might be to use two small button magnets glued to the flap and the drive bezel.

Does anyone have a picture of one fitted?
Cheers for the response, I just find annoying more than anything!

You could try registering with this site Apple Mac Parts and Repairs from VIS Ltd - but take a good look at some of the prices!!! Not to mention unavailability, which is why I suggest registering, so that you get notified of anything becoming available.

Good one MacSK, but the OP is in Britain, and the cost of importing stuff via postage is horrendous. There may be something here Airport items - Get great deals on 512mb, PowerMac items on eBay UK!

I've changed my mind about two button magnets. Instead use two thin strip magnets, like the sort we stick on the fridge door. Just have to make sure they have different polarity.
