If you're using the HTML5 version of YouTube, you'll lose fullscreen functionality since it is impossible to have full screen video delivered through an HTML5 player. If this is the case, go here, leave the HTML5 beta and enjoy full screen video delivered through Flash.
The Flash based video player, which will be used if you're not in the HTML5 beta, should have no issue going fullscreen. What browser are you using? Have you tried another one?
i am using safari and seem to have flash player related issues on other sites even though i have the latest version possible for ox 10.5.8.its working with firefox but i want to keep using safari, any sugestions?
That's not the Flash player. It looks like you've got ClickToFlash installed which, if I remember correctly, will play the H.264 version through QuickTime. Disable this functionality in the preferences for ClickToFlash.
