Which specific Macbook pro is his? 13", 15", 16"? How are you connecting to the external monitor?
If you look at the Tech Specs of the Satechi hub, you will see it clearly says HDMI up to 30hz. I imagine the Kingston hub is the same, virtually ALL of the hubs out there will drive 4k at 30 Hz. If you want to get to 60 Hz, you're going to have to go directly from the MBP to the monitor. So you will need a USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to DisplayPort cable.
all clear! thanks! The specs say 4k up to 30Hz, so if the Dell is running less than 4k, it might be able to drive at a higher rate. So if you drop the resolution down to the bare minimum, perhaps it will go to 100 Hz. But if you want to go directly up to 4k at up to 100 Hz, then you will likely have to go directly to the monitor, avoiding the hub.
