new user help!

Hi I am a very new user, purchased a new Mac pro with iworks and mail ver 3.5.
Hopefully have a simple problem, set up POP email all incoming mail is OK but trying to send getting error CAN NOT SEND MESSAGE USING THE SERVER SMTP.******.**.**

I can not see where I can change the settings to stop this error and get mail to send.

Who is your ISP? Previously, I had issues with Earthlink wanting all email to go out through their servers regardless of what inbound I used. But that issue seems to have gone away.

Also check to ensure that whatever port is being used is not being blocked by something else (router, firewall, etc.)
