I have Uverse with the RG3800 router/modem one thing you can try is using WPA2-PSK (AES) only which is the last line.
Also if your printer has auto DHCP my HP does it will link up with all or its been my experience so far.

OK, log into your router as you did before (192.168.1.8)

Go to Settings - LAN - IP Address Allocation

Change address assignment to static. Save the changes. Reboot your router, printer and macs

Thank you mrplow but I am completely confused. The 192.168.1.8 IP is the Lexmark printer. The router is 192.168.1.254. When I log into that > settings > LAN > IP Address allocation which shows data for 7 different devices. Those 7 have IP addresses from 192.168.1.2 through .8, all say "Connected DHCP" , all say Firewall enabled, all have address assignment from private pool 192.168.1.0 thru .253.

How do I proceed from here?

Again, thank you for your invaluable help

Apologies mis-read what you posted earlier. Just change 192.168.1.8 address assignment to static

UPDATE mrplow - first a refresher - for some time now my iMac has been printing flawlessly through the router while my wife's has been sporadic. So, on mine I logged into 198.162.1.8 > Configuration > TCP/IP and clicked "Set static IP address" The message "Submitting selection" appeared for a time and then returned to the 198.162.1.8 screen. There was no confirmation that a change was made. Going back to the TCP/IP still offered the "Set static IP address" option. I did the same on the other iMac with the same results.

I suppose I will now need to monitor the printing activity to see if the problem is resolved.

An enormous thank you for all your help with this problem

Let us know how it goes

Hello mrplow. It's been quite a while since you provided your generous help with this problem but it seems to have returned, at least on one of our iMacs. You may recall that we were getting sporadic printing through our ATT router. You suggested converting to a static IP address and that seems to have solved the problem on my iMac but my wife's continued to have intermittent problems. Tonight nothing would print so I went to 192.162.1.8 > Config > TCP/IP and set static IP address. Still failed to print.

Suggestions please

Thank you

At this stage a change of router is the only thing I can suggest. Do you have a friend or colleague that could loan you one you could try for a few weeks?

Nteworking problems

Uverse router/ modems only work at their physically assigned address.

Thank you OSXX for the suggestion but I am very ignorant in this area so have several questions. My Router/Gateway address is 192.168.1.254. I plug that into the Firefox address bar and it leads me to page titled "HOME" with a list titled "Home network dvices", one of which is Cisco_AP_ATT. I click "Details" and under LAN it lists the IP address as 192.168.1.5. This confuses me very much. Which, if any, of these is the "physically assigned address" of which you speak and where do I set that?

Printing from my primary iMac is fine but the second machine is intermittent, sometimes printing without a hitch, sometimes printing after pause and print clicks, and sometimes not at all.

Thank you

I think he was referring to using another to the use of another router. Don't be mislead by that referring to your existing setup
