My iMac doesn't see my printer using USB

I normally use Wi-Fi to print from my M1 iMac with Somoma 13.1. But sometimes I want to plug my Canon Pixma G6020 directly in via USB.

But when I do that, without my printer's known Wi-Fi network, my Mac doesn't find my printer.

How do I get them to see each other when they are connected by USB?

I downloaded and ran that utility, and saw it looked like the old utilities I had. But I still can't see the printer except via Wi-Fi.

Try a printer reset. :

Go to: System Preferences --> Printers & Scanners
Right click (or Control click) in the printer list (on the left)
Choose the Reset command.

I suggest then shutting down your Mac, turning off your printer,
restarting your Mac, and when fully running, with your printer plugged into your Mac's
USB port, turn on your printer. It should set itself up automatically
