Exsecrabilus, The update WAS for 10.5.2 users, not sure why you figured it was for 10.5.0 users...
Keep the update until you run Onyx and then see what happens from there.

Sorry for double-posting, but.....In this thread, I described how to use Onyx to clean up and run maintenance on your system. It cleared up the slow shutdown problem for that poster, I'd recommend you start by looking at that thread.

About the 10.5.3 update
#1 difference is downloading the combo update gives you the opportunity to verify you have a good download.
The combo update applies all previous updates, multiple languages and has PPC along with Intel code.
My guess is that there are several different 'Software Update' versions for different machines to reduce the file size.

The MacBook doesn't freeze or anything.
It runs applications fine and everything works.
It's just when you try to shut it down or something, it never works.
