I would go with OS 8.6 it is more stable than 8.1.

hey those are the crappy computers at my school...we also have older iMacs and brand new eMacs(which are like lightning for school computers.

Just because they're old doesn't make them "crappy". Many people, including myself, appreciate the older Macs for all sorts of reasons. I'm especially fond of all the older all-in-one Mac's such as the Color Classic, Performa, LC, etc., and I own one that I use just as much as my newer iBook. In any event, there's certainly no reason to put down someone else's new (to them) computer. :rolleyes:
