I am moving things to iCloud since I have 1TB of storage on there and 250GB on my MBP. Moving some things over from my go pro so I have extra room for this trip that I am on. Everything successfully transfers but I still have about the same amount of space on my computer as if it is copying rather than moving the files. The files are no longer in their original directories. Does anyone know where these files move to? Perhaps its like one of those time machine backups that stay local on the computer?

Are you actually moving things to iCloud storage or are you just copying them? Have you tried opening two Finder windows and compare? I regularly move documents to iCloud storage but unless I specifically delete them from my iMac, I wind up with two copies. You could just be syncing things rather than moving them.

It appears that I am moving them as I delete the folder itself and empty the trash and check disk utility still the same amount of space.

As a second update I just finished transferring 7 GB of things to iCloud drive and they are no longer on my computer and still have 6GB of free space like I have had for the past 30 or so GB of file transfers.
