Mail account offline

MacBook Pro 13 inch, Mid 2010; High Sierra, Vesion 10.13.1

Suddenly, for no reason I know of, I stopped being able to send mail on my MacBook. I can send or receive mail using me regular Verizon accont. The Sent mailbox indicates that messages have been sent, but they do not arrive in my inbox. The Mail Preference Accouns window, for the Verizon accont shows that Verizon is Offline. (Status: Offline Red dot)

How do I get online? (I can send and receive messages using m Desktop computer)

Check with Verizon? Maybe they have an outage in your area.
