Magic Keyboard question

I am getting a Magic Trackpad 2 which has a lightning port in the back. Does the magic keyboard which came with my iMac have one as well, or is it just an ordinary port which takes longer to charge up?

Although it is referred to simply as the Magic Keyboard, it come with the on/off switch and the Thunderbolt/USB cable. Normally one cable per pair of devices.

I may be missing something here but as you already have the magic keyboard why not just look?

The current one you identified Bob is known simply as the Magic Keyboard. Certainly my previous board with two AA batteries was known simply as the Apple Wireless keyboard.

Would have made sense to call the current model Magic Keyboard 2 to match the Magic Mouse 2 and Magic Trackpad 2

Thinks... Still not convinced that a wireless keyboard is either necessary or practical for an iMac. If you have to connect it to charge it why not just leave the lead connected? And if you have room for a 27" wide Mac on your desk surely you have room for a proper sized keyboard too? The need to make the iMac thin defeats me as well - but that's another story

@Sawday I have an iMac with the current Apple keyboard. The advantage for me over a wired keyboard is that I have a lot more options for where I can place the keyboard when going wireless. I'm not tied down by the length of the lead that ships with it. As far as charging goes I can go several days to a couple of weeks before having to charge it again. I usually get that warning quite some time before it goes dead. When I get the warning I plug it in at the end of the day and let it charge while I'm asleep.

I use the older battery (2 AAs) operated wireless keyboard and although I'm not particularly fond of having to manipulate the keys to do a backspace delete and so forth, I do find it more convenient in being able to move it around. The older USB Apple keyboard has its uses primarily because of the additional USB 2 ports it provides. Those ports can be used for a mouse and a printer.

But member Sawday has a good point about using a full sized wired keyboard along with a 27" iMac on your desk.

Agree with everything you've said Charlie. I've used both iterations pf the magic keyboard. I still have a full size keyboard around but it takes up too much space on my keyboard tray. The top of the desk is too high to use the keyboard and trackpad there. Going wireless allows me to use them where it's comfortable.
