I'm going to skip the beta for Sierra and let you and the other folks who are in the trenches tell us about it. Summer is just too busy around here and I really don't have the time to devote to doing any beta testing. So have at it Harry and keep us informed. ;D
Not to hijack the thread but has anyone had trouble entering the public beta because the App Store keeps reporting that their redemption code has already been redeemed
That can happen if you accessed the App Store before and attempted to download the beta but it failed or for some reason did not download. That very thing happened to me when I was testing El Capitan.
So far I haven't fixed the problem. I unenrolled my MacBook Pro just in case that was the issue. I also tried enrolling with a different Apple ID. Both Apple IDs are recognized and that generates a different redemption code but the net result is the same. Both codes are reported as having already been redeemed.
About the only thing you can do now is give Apple a call and have them clear the old codes or forget about running Sierra. Of course it may just be a temporary glitch so you might want to wait awhile and try again.
I was hoping to avoid doing that. I always feel like I should be able to solve the problem without their help. I was going to have to call them anyway to resolve a calendar syncing issue that I've had for some time now.
Beta 2 here on my late 2011 MBP with 8GB ram is sucking all kinds of RAM with nothing open but activity monitor. 6GB used and if I then open safari and do a few things it starts to compress. With El Capitan on same machine 2GB sitting there at most and maybe 3-4 GB with many things going and many tabs in Safari.
I did a google search and I am not alone. It was quite high with Beta 1 but it's using 2 more GB here in Beta 2.
