Ashwin it always takes Software Update twenty to thirty seconds to change that message on my iMac.

Agree w/ Harry - for me that has been an observation for a number of macOS updates lately - this time on my 3 Macs (2 laps + 1 iMac), the 'Software Update' window said my computer was up to date, then after a short wait (as indicated above), the message 'popped up' indicating a new update. Dave

While my daughter's MBA picked up the 10.15.5 update, my Mac Mini doesn't seem to show the 10.15.5 update yet. It is still sitting at 10.15.4. Software update says that my Mac is up to date which is odd.
A restart may also get the update notification.

I had and have been recently having the same behavior as RadDave. No updates then after a few minutes it come up. I guess we are all pretty early on these things so maybe a notification would have come up eventually?
