Insert the disc > Press and hold C > It will boot into Installer > Go to Utilities, Disk Utility > Run Disk Verify. If the disk is fine, then post back here. If there is an error with your hard drive, try and repair. Otherwise get it replaced.

No no no. Don't go forward. As soon as the installer loads, at the top you will see a menubar. On that hit "Utilities" and then select Disk Utility.

LOL to the genius comment!

Please tell me this thread is a wind up?

How can the installer disk get as far as "This cannot be installed on your HDD", yet the disk utility program just 'not work'

If the DVD can bring up the installer, it should be able to bring up disk utility and if it can do that, it should say what's wrong, even if the HDD has been transported to another dimension.

Nothing of what u said happened :S

You said in post 28

Tried!. But right after the LANGUAGE setup it says "MAC OS X COULD NOT BE INSTALLED ON THIS COMPUTER"!.

If you can get as far as this, then the Disk Utility would also launch, if you follow what has been explained to you.
