iPhone 12 Pro Max, MacBook Pro mid-2010 17" High Sierra.
Why do i keep getting messages to upgrade my MBP to Monterey? I'm sure that it's too old to get that upgrade?

It's not uncommon. I see the same as you on some 2013 and 2014 MBPr's. I suspect if you tried to upgrade you would get a file not found error. It is annoying.
