I manage an environment that has both Mac and PC. My graphics team uses the Macs and is using a mini as a file server. From time to time a PC operator needs to save a file to a folder on the mini. Each time though the file is locked when it gets to the mini and we have to go into the folders settings on the mini and reset the permissions. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and if there is a fix? Mac is running Sierra and PC is Win 7 pro.

Thanks!

Welcome to our forums.

I believe that's an ownership problem imposed on the files by NTFS. Normal way to move files from an NTFS environment to a Mac is to right click on the NTFS drive or file and select "Ignore Ownership". However, I don't see how you can do that for single files moved to the server. Perhaps someone else may have an idea on how to do it automatically.
