Very recently I wen.t from 110Mbps to 12Mbps through my hard wired system. Sid as plugged my wife's MacBook Pro into my cat 7 cable using the same wall jack that I use and she can get the 110Mbps that I was getting.
Thoughts on what to check or what might need replacing would be very much appreciated.

G'day and welcome to the forums.

I suggest setting up your internet connection uing the browers address eg 168.1.1.011 or whatever the manual suggests. Any other drop offs with your Mac, whatever it is, suggesting hard drive or CPU problems?

Dependant on what has changed you may find that a simple solution is worth a try first. Go to the Network Preferences and create a new network connection for yourself from scratch. You can keep the old one, just create a new location eg Home #2 using the Assist Me button at the bottom of the Network Prefs window. If it doesn't help you can simply go back to your previous location set up. I have found that for no particular reason this sometimes helps.
