snow leopard safari not loading pages successfully so in a fit of pique i reset safari and didn't realise that the ticked box 'website data' means you lose all bookmarks (why they don't call the box 'bookmarks' is beyond me....but there you go).
so.....ten years of extensive archiving lost. not so (a friend tells me).....simply go to time machine and restore from there. hurrah. no.....not hurrah. i enter time machine, i go to last back-up.....no safari folder anywhere.....or in any previous back up. i search 'bookmarks' - nothing. i search 'bookmarks.plist' (after scouring forums on subject). nothing. library-cahce is empty.
hammer ready in hand.....macbook pro first, wd-passport next.....then into town to smash shop windows.
my mac-guru friend len is stumped.
