I really didn't expect to get anything like that. That particular folder did have several 1 GB files in it.

The 23 GB file only started out at 12MB and rapidly slowed down to 6MB, but at least it's being shown at 1.0Gb speed and I've got a place to start some tweaking to see what I can do with files of that size.

I wonder what is up with that file? Did you try some other large files or folders besides that first 7.6GB one?

Not yet. Probably won't have any more that need backing up to the server until this weekend.

I've read the need to adjust jumbo frame size is almost mandatory with those size files and a couple of posts saying that the DIR-655 doesn't support jumbo frames, although I haven't verified that yet. And who has a clue if the Time Capsule supports them or not... So, I've still got a ways to go yet, but it's a start.

Oh, and Cat5e works just fine. At least at 100' it does. The MS support moderator tried to tell me I needed fiber optic cable to get above 100 mbps.

And then told me I should go check with HP support and even provided the links to them.
