Cheap not sure, but I took my 667Mhz G4 Digital Audio to 1.8Ghz, 1.5GB RAM and Radeon 9800 Pro video. How much RAM does it have? Adding more RAM is a good first step. Which OS is on it? If OSX which version? Click the Blue Apple in the Top Left corner and on about this mac.

You can add 120GB Hard Drives (2 of them) with the stock IDE controller chip or add a PCI IDE card for larger drives. You can add a PCI USB 2.0 card also.

The RAM is PC133 SDRAM. Don't let someone try to tell you that PC100 will work. Your Bus is 133Mhz. I like NewEgg for RAM. I will get back later with a few URL's for the other upgrades.

It should but for Leopard max it out as far as you can afford.

As far as Leopard, right now we are all taking guess's, but I have talked to a couple of developers and you need RAM. 1GB at least. you can put 3x512Meg PC133 Dimms in that machine and with Leopard you might want that much. The rest time will tell.

Alright thanks a lot!!

I think I'm going to try to get it up to like 1.5-1.8GHz and 1g of RAM then possibly going up to 1.5. and for now just 1 120g HD. Then the USB 2.0 PCI card. Also I was wondering the Firewire on this computer, it's the 400 right? So I should be able to upload video through that right?

Very nice buy, $250 is a very good price :)

However, in its current condition it will not run Leopard, Leopards minimum requirements (you NEED this to start the installer) are:
  • 800Mhz G4 or Above
  • 512MB Ram

512mb is the cheapest bit, the 800Mhz may be a bit more expensive.

& as for the PC100 not working in the Mac, just to let you know, it works in my AGP Graphics G4 :)

Yeah I know I'm very glad that I found it, and yes I know I can't run leopard on it now. That's why I'm going to upgrade it to 1.8GHz, 1.5g RAM, and eventually 240g HD. So until then I'll stick with panther. :)

..but I'm just glad to have a mac. I <3 this thing!!

To be specific, these are the requirements for the beta. The final release requirements are unknown.

You are incorrect. An AGP has a 100Mhz Bus and takes PC100 SDRAM. A Digital Audio runs at 133Mhz. A Digital Audio will not run with PC100 RAM unless the PC100 is capable of 133Mhz.

http://www.lowendmac.com/ppc/g4-133.shtml

And where are you getting the Leopard specs from? Last I saw is a G4 CPU.

I would normally say nothing but can't sit back and let the OP purchase PC100 and have the machine not even post.
