One last point for information. I use 2 screens and upgraded to Mavericks with the 2nd screen connected to my iMac. It seems the settings for the 2nd screen update correctly but the iMac doesn't recognise what type of screen it is dealing with unless you unplug the 2nd screen and then reconnect it. I would recommend upgrading without the 2nd screen and plugging it in afterwards.
