I'm totally new to Macs, I just purchased a MacBook Aluminium yesterday and I've had trouble trying to connect it to my wireless connection at home.

On my network settings on the TCP/IP and am configuring the IPv4 address 'manually'. I've typed in my IP address and Subnet Mask but I have no idea about the Router address. Where do I find this on my Windows computer?

Also when I change my network settings and click 'apply' a window pops up saying '(my ip address) in use by 00:01:6c:15:f8:60' I have no idea what that means.

Thanks in advance!

Why are you trying to configure your IP address manually? Is there some reason you need a specific address? If not....

Don't type in or specify an IP address. Set the IPv4 for "using DHCP". The subnet mask should default to: 255.255.255.0 and the router to 192.168.0.1

Your router will generate an IP address for you automatically.

Regards.
