Question: does anyone know which is better? Installing a GIG chip on my G5, or two 512s? I have 1.5, but want to go to either 2, or 2.5. Thanks.

I thought so as well. Is this true? Ive been looking to get some RAM. Just dont know what kind... Brand and type.mynameis said:I thought they had to be installed in pairs?
Avalon's got it.Avalon said:I suppose you're talking about a PowerMac G5, as the iMac G5 can't take more than 2GB anyway.
The PowerMacs need RAM in pairs, means when you upgrade it, you have to do it with 2 identical modules, and installing them in opposite slots, on on each memory bank. If you only add 1 module, it won't work.

Yup... Read it last night after I posted . Glad came across this thread and read the G5 Manual. I would have made a mistake with the RAM.mynameis said:Go ready Apple's instructions for installing RAM in a G5 PowerMac, it states that it needs to be matching pairs. Just get some PC3200 from newegg.com. Rosewill, Corsair, Kingston, PQI and others are all good.
Okay, cool. Thanks.mynameis said:Hynix is what came in my mini from Apple...
