Hello,

I've my iMac 5K Late 2015.
Want to upgrade it's CPU i5 3.2Ghz to i7 4.0 Ghz (6700K).

I know how to disassemble the mono-block and get to the CPU, the question is do i need only CPU, or some additional hw?
I mean, do i get any hardware problems with MotherBoard or something like that, will i get any compatibility issues?

Thanks in advance.

Information available regarding upgrading the CPU on a Late 2015 iMac:

*Officially, Apple provides no information about whether or not the processor in this model can be upgraded and the company does not intend for one to upgrade the processor either. However, the processor is mounted on a LGA 1151 socket and can be physically upgraded with a compatible processor with a maximum TDP of 91 W or less.

Anytime you have to get into the newer iMacs, it's a real job like Lisa says. Not for novices and even some experienced folks. Besides... I'm betting that swapping out the CPU on a new 5K iMac will void the Apple warranty.

Thanks for info. Actually, i'm planing to do this after the warranty expiration. Also, i have some experience with assembling / disassembling PCs. I know that iMac is another level of complexity, but i believe should not be a problem. The only thing which i'm worrying is a new CPU compatibility with the Main Board.
