How weird is this, I found a MBP from Jan 2006 on the street

And it works! Very weird, but weird stuff happens. It was outside near the trash as I walked early morning to the post office, and somebody had removed the battery and pried its outer casing to see what was inside, like somebody didn't understand what computers are but wanted to get into the one piece that came off the bottom with a latch. So I picked it up with out the destroyed battery, plugged it in with my power adapter I have from another old laptop and it booted right up. 74GB HDD, MacOS 10..5.8, last time any files were written to the drive was 2010.
I'm wondering what I would even use it for...
A whole 512 MB RAM! 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo

It really is pretty much useless for anything I can think of, the only pity is that it was not dropped off to an apple store or similar for recycling. The amazing thing is that it works.

Might be able to install Linux? I hope the former owner has deregistered the MBP with Apple via his/her AppleId account.

Since it is running 10.5, that should predate registration issues.

Also, you could install windows XP, 7, 8, and probably 10 as well.

Half a GB of RAM is not much, I don't think it could run Windows. Chrome OS has very low system requirements but I think even that requires a 2007 Mac book or later.

It mostly reminds me of the old 90s Powerbook I have, it turns on, it works, but unless you just want to type a novel and then have it stuck in there forever what's the point. At least this laptop seems futuristic in comparison with a lot of port options and a Superdrive.
Oh, wait! I could totally use this computer just to run iTunes playlists via the headphone jack to PA speakers in my home gym, perfect.
