Rapidshare has upload and bandwidth limits on top of the fact that the files could be downloaded by anyone and the URL is public ;).

Hi

I've been searching everywhere for a solution for my problem...

I need to transfer a 7GB .dmg from a mac to a windows.

Will the FTP option do it? Can it be done over direct Ethernet conection? I have tried copying, but it copies only until it´s 4GB and then gives and error for the size.

I have tried Transmac and it doesn´t read my macbook over network.

I have also converted to .iso, and still can´t transfer.

Any ideas? The FTP will work?

You don't need FTP to do a simple file transfer within a local network. Additionally, you don't need any special software. Mac OS X has SAMBA, which can do file transfers using native Windows networking protocols.

My guess is the reason that it's failing is that the file system of the destination drive is formatted FAT32, which can not support single files of 4GB or larger.

I thought so... I can transfer any other files through the network, both via ethernet or wireless.

The file came compresses as .rar, multiple files, so i transfered all the files (the .rar files) to the pc and tried to extract there... when it's about 4gb extracted, it gives the ntfs error... in the mac it also gave error with The Unarchiver, but then I downloaded some other program and it worked. I tried on the windows WinRar, IZrar and Bitster, no sucess with any.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

Thanks so far...
