I'm trying to get my MacBook (2.4 Ghz, 2 Gb, 160 Gb HDD) to play through my external speakers. So far I'm not having any success. I purchased a male to male 1/8" plug audio stereo cable. It does not seem to work when I hook it to the speaker output on the side of the MacBook and attach it to the speaker input. However, the same cable works OK when I hook it to the headphone output from the MacBook to the speaker input.
Am I using the correct cable? The same cable works fine from the sound card output on a Windows desktop machine to the speakers.
Also, I noticed when in Sound preferences it shows output to the headphones OK but when the cable is hooked to the speaker output on the MacBook it only shows the source as the internal speakers.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.
