Help! Transferring Mac HD data to PC HD

Hey chas_m,
Are there any free alternatives ? I'm not also sure if Paragaon NTFS would work on Lion. Moreover, it's not free software :p .

how big are these files? What types of files?

Just curious why you can't just use a 4 or 8 gig usb? Plug in your USB hard drive in one USB slot. Copy files from HD to another usb slot using a stick, give to dad?

(p.s. only brushed through this thread, if it's been mentioned ... sorry)
