FN key+delete key

Throwing keyboard out window! nah, though...can't figure out why the shortcut key stroke FN + delete to delete forward DOES NOT work. Have cried over it, prayed over it, begged with it to work...but zip! Have too many gray hairs to continue, so any help would be so so appreciated!

EDIT: Note that it says that the functions may be modified by any given app. You didn't say which app you are using, so it may well be the app has changed the keys.

What specific keyboard do you have?
I use an older Apple aluminum keyboard with a Mac Mini running Mojave, that keyboard actually has a "delete forward" key just to the right of the back slash key but using fn + delete also works.
