Insurance company statistics show that one of the main causes of accidents is distracted driving. I know even though I'm careful about distractions, occasionally something will take my attention away from the road.

Texas has thousands of miles of rural roadways and a very high percentage of drunken driving according to stats. The fines for DUI here in Texas will stand your hair on end besides having to post bond to get out of jail. Yet the idiots who drive while intoxicated are usually repeat offenders.

Just this past Thursday there was a massive pileup on i35W which is a main freeway going into downtown Fort Worth. There was a bit of freezing rain on the highway, and of course no one slows down. Five people died and 130 vehicles were involved. It shut the freeway down for most of the day. What a mess.

That massive traffic accident pileup was covered on our local news and it was hard to believe that more people were not killed or squashed to death.

But sure are some crazy nuts on the road there, even the officer or paramedic that was being interviewed had to jump out of the way of some stupid nut in their car speeding by, with all the piled-up/stacked-up vehicles in the background only 10-20 feet away. Crazy!!!

Yes to the above, plus drivers who smoke behind the wheel. Sooner or later, recreational weed will be legal everywhere. Presumably the tax revenue from its sale will cover the increased medical costs and other things proceeding from the increased number of impaired drivers. We'll need self-driving cars even more!

Alcohol is legal everywhere but DUI is not. Same thing applies to Weed or any other drug. Any good police officer can smell Weed when making a traffic stop.

It doesn't matter if Weed is legal everywhere, you still won't be able to "smoke it and drive".

Well, sure you will; not legally, of course, if not while driving, right after a buzz. The latter would not be distracted driving, just under the influence. Of course, some people do all sorts of stupid things and get ticketed or arrested for them.
