i keep mine up. i think on all of our mac they are up. they are really small so they do not interfere with any work.

Agreed. For those with high-res widescreen LCDs or multi-monitors, Just put the dock at the sides. For lower res monitors (especially for those still using 1024x768 LCDs), I would hide it to get more screen space.no.

Nope, my dock is quite small though so as not to impact to greatly on my availalbe desktop space.
I want mine on the left but I think it interferes with Adium too much. If I put Adium on the right then it covers up my HD and a few desktop icons.
