Correct. On iMac only. Working fine on MacBook.

I think we're talking at cross purposes. I can't recreate the error on my iMac or MacBook.

Just checked with a friend using a brand new iMac. Same thing. All working fine.

@Gilbert117 Since the behavior is only affecting one Mac it seems to be a software setting issue. I have not used Excel in a long time so I can't tell you where this setting is in Excel. Perhaps someone else can.
On the Mac with Excel working correctly check any setting having to do with how "in cell" editing behaves. Apply those same settings on the other Mac. It sounds like the return/enter key is set to behave differently on the two machines.

Are you trying to find Universal Access settings? Open System Preferences and click on Universal Access. There is a Keyboard Tab there.
