Many folks confuse "Outlook" (a mail program and PIM) with Outlook Express. Outlook is available for both OS X and Windows. Thanks for letting us know.

That would explain it.

I have enjoyed reading all the above if just for all the confusion. I think someone is confusing OS 9 with OS 10.9 or something like that. You can't run higher than 10.5 on PowerPC, if i could have i probably wouldn't have bothered getting this little intel iMac so i could have 10.6. Was worth it tho.
Interestingly the way earley discovered to delete the folders is the way it has to be done on Yahoo web mail. It stumped me for longer than it stumped earley. i had to read and re read the Help page before i finally got it. It's a bit different than for the windows pcs.
