Hello,

Sorry for the silly question. I'm a technician but never had to use FireWire before.

I'm trying to connect a Mac Pro (mid 2012) to a SmartStar DS4600 (NAS) via not a USB cable since I need to transfer over 6TB of data and it says it will take over 10 days when I tried it via USB cable.

I believe there are a few different types of FireWire cables

2m Firewire 1394 Cable 4P to 6P (i.Link)

Comsol Male 9 Pin to Male 6 Pin FireWire 800 Cable 2m | Officeworks

I'm not sure which ones I need, can anyone help me out?

I've attached images of the devices.

Unless I have misread the specs on those devices they both support Firewire 800. The second cable that you linked to will work but it will transfer data at Firewire 400 speed. Something like this cable will be the fastest of your options. t's also referred to as a 9 pin to 9 pin cable.

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I actually got a picture from the customer in the mean time and worked it out.

I see some 9pin cables have small holes in them (like your link)
But my clients doesn't have these holes. is there any difference?

I don't think it matters but I'm not sure. I've only got a couple of those cables around and they all have those small holes.

If it fits and works, the holes don't matter. If it doesn't work, they do. Give it a try! (I think they don't matter. I just looked at one of mine and no holes.)
