Can't find SIM tray on iPhone 6S

I'm sorting through my late father's stuff and one of the things he has is an iPhone 6s, model no. A 1688.

Everywhere I look on the web, I am told that there is a SIM tray on the right-hand side of the device, but on my dad's there definitely isn't. So where is it? I can't see it anywhere. I need to know so that I can get the IMEI number.

I know that the phone was bought from the British network service provider O2.

And BTW, the SIM Tray IS on the right hand side though it is often very difficult to spot. Look for a tiny, minute, hole into which you insert a pin if you don't have the standard pin-extractor.

I don't have the unlock code, I don't have access to my dad's Apple account, and I don't have the original packaging. Therefore I need to look in the SIM tray.

You are correct in saying that you can access the IMEI from the SIM card and my earlier post tells you exactly where to locate it.

Yes, I have. The phone turned out to have a protective case. Because the case was silver on the sides and transparent on the back, I didn't notice it.
