A few days ago now, I found myself in the Accident & Emergency department (Emergency Room) of my local hospital. While I was waiting I happened to overhear a brief conversation between a middle-aged man who appeared to have injured his finger quite severely, as evidenced by the bloody bandage wrapped tightly around it, and a young girl I assume to have been his daughter.
He was obviously composing a text message informing someone else of the nature of his injury on his rather neolithic looking phone, and in the process of doing so asked his daughter how to spell "laceration".
Without hesitation, and in perfect deadpan, the she simply replied "C-U-T."
