I suggest learning to play an obscure instrument, or experimenting with GNU/Linux operating systems! :D

Always a wise choice :). What do you like to do? Your best bet would be to take up something that has always been an interest but you never had the time for. Interested in design webpages but never had the time? Well, now you have the time (just one example).

^ I actually would like to go into web design business over the summer. I also have a rather large ongoing project at school to enhance the internet radio station after our trial run at the end of this year.

Man, I know who to go to for a good time then :p.
Hahaha well I'll just say O:)

And for the guy with no linux experience, think it of this way it is another form of Unix. It is something that is hard to explain but easy to experience, if you want to take some looks into it. So I think you should try are fedora, ubuntu or freeBSD.

Man, what a blast. Party at gagnerants! It's BYOPB - bring your own programming books. :p

I agree with Fedora or Ubuntu but you might want to stay away from FreeBSD until you know more about *nix. Your best bet for learning these is virtual machines. Installing to a virtual machine will be best because not only will you learn about virtualization at the same time but if something goes wrong (and it will when you are learning *nix), you just delete the virtual HD and start over. No changes to your HD make it a wise choice.

Many people will recommend Fusion or Parallels. I recommend VirtualBox because its free and in my experience, solid.

You could learn Objective-C, make the greatest iPhone app on the planet, and become rich.

Earning money to buy cool toys isn't fun? ;)

Going back to school to get said job, and actually enjoy waking up to go to work, which just happens to be using all of those toys, is waaaay more fun! ;)

Switch that to "earning money to pay for school..." and you've probably got the reality for people his/our age. ;)

Are you in some weird land where jobs are fun? Where is this and how do I get there? :p

I enjoy my job when I'm not overwhelmed. Unfortunately, the nature of corporate America these days is "do more with almost nothing". But when I first started - back when I had ratio of 1 IT person to 125 users, it was cool. 1 to 600, not so much ;)

It's not just corporate America - welcome to teaching and nursing in Ontario.

I will admit that when not overwhelmed, my job in IT the previous few summers had been pretty good. Honestly, one of the best parts about the job aside from learning things on a daily basis is the personal relationships you develop. I met so many people at that company.

Do you like food?
Well if you do and can afford it why not look in a cook book and cook your self something fancy from time to time during your holidays. It'll help remove the routine nature of every day plus helps beat the boredom.

But if you want to make into a project you could design your own meal. Only if you think you're good enough to make something that will taste good. Cause if it tastes bad that's money wasted.
