I have the same dilemma but its the quality not the sizr that concerns me. I currently have the 20inch white imac and will be getting the new one in the nxt 3/4 months.
Size wise the 20 inch is fine for me, the 24 maybe good for dvd watching but work wise I think I'll be happy with the 20 and the extra £100+ in my pocket. My dilemma is the quality of the screen. I have read that the 20 inch uses a cheaper, not as good quality screens as the 24s and there is a noticible gradient when you have solid colours on screen which as a design student is worrying for me.

I currently have a 20" Core Duo iMac and the new Santa Rosa iMacs are sweet. I plan on picking up a 24" model with 2.8GHz and 500GB HD when Leopard comes out. I just picked up a 2.4GHz 15" MacBook Pro and I am typing this on it right now. My iMac is now off and unused, just have to find the time to do a data transfer from the iMac to the MBP. I will probably put it up on ebay as soon as I get the new iMac. Love Macs ever since I first tried out a Mac Mini when it first came out. I have a custom built PC with QX6700 and Nvidia 8800 GTX KO ACS3 and all I use it for is to play games, everything else is done on the iMac/MBP. If only they had a universal version of Bioshock, my PC would be useless...

Bring on the 30" iMac! 20" is ok, 24" is good, but 30" would be great!
