No mention of 10.6.2 fixing apple's apparent inability to use bluetooth peripherals reliably.

I HAAAAATE bluetooth.

I have never had any bluetooth issues with either 10.5 or 10.6.

Congratulations.

I among MANY others HAVE had numerous and constant issues...besides it's apples to oranges comparing your older machines to my newer hardware.

Perhaps you're having an issue with your machine. What model & specs?

As an aside, is it not logical to believe that Bluetooth reliability would become better with newer hardware?

Nope. The "new" iMacs have different problems than my 24" iMac, so no, I don't believe it would always lead to better reliability.

My specs are in my avatar....I also had issues with BT mice and keyboards with my MBP..specs also in my avatar.

Either way, BT DOES suck for connectivity and I'm definitely not the only one that thinks so....wish Apple would address the issues.

HAHA Spock ..... Off subject but awesome new movie. Great to see the old and new Spock in it :)

On subject ... Why is there a 157mb and the 500mb combo ???

Thought if i had 10.6.1 i would only need the 157mb update not the full 500mb...
No ??

157MB is not a combo update. 500MB combo is if you have any version of 10.6.

Agreed. The one on my C2D Mini was 167 MB I believe. The Combo is larger because it's for every machine and includes things that a machine specific update would never have.

I've had only three problems since upgrading to Snow Leopard. Let's see how 10.6.2 dealt with those problems:

BEFORE: Can't drag and drop more than one message at a time in Mail, except maybe one out of 30 attempts.

AFTER: Still can no longer drag and drop more than one message at a time in Mail, except maybe one out of 30 attempts.

BEFORE: When opening Firefox, it stays in the background, unfocused.
AFTER: Firefox STILL stays in the background, unfocused.

BEFORE: Internet not accessible via wifi unless I futz with the settings each time I reboot.

AFTER: Internet still not accessible via wifi unless I futz with the settings each time I reboot. (And yes, I've tried all the "solutions" -- trying a new "Location," manually adding the DNS numbers, deleting the files from the Library folder, etc. -- nothing worked.)

i know its not the "mac" thing to do, but it sounds like it might be time to do a fresh install and format your drive. Are the problems you described experienced by others?

So, as somebody who has wanted to make the switch from Leopard to Snow Leopard, do you guys who have the update think this is now worth the switch?

On my White 17 inch C2D imac the update is a whole 499.9MBs.

Time to get downloading I guess. Big update.

Back to my old 2.2GHz C2D MB after selling my MBP and wondering what my next Mac will be :)
So, as somebody who has wanted to make the switch from Leopard to Snow Leopard, do you guys who have the update think this is now worth the switch?

This is a very broad question based on so many factors.
For me, I have had nothing but success, with all upgrades since using macs, from Panther, to Tiger, to Leopard, to Snow Leopard.

Then again, I have always kept my Macs clean:
-performing regular disk permission repairs.
-uninstalling software and leftovers when I uninstall or delete.
-always doing clean installs.
-if updating, repairing permissions before and after installations.
-never installed windows on my macs
the list goes on, but you get where I'm heading with this...
Smooth sailing for a long time Mac user :)

So, in short, yes.... Faster Mac with more space, and I'm sure that more is to come!

Hm, this update looks like it fixed quite a bit. Between this and the increasing support for Snow Leopard in the apps I use, I may make the upgrade to Snow Leopard by Xmas after all.

Firefox 3.5.5 solved this issue for me.

Snow Leopard has been wonderful from the day of its release to me. A couple of minor annoyances that have been worked out, but that's all. :)

As for doing clean installs of OS X every time, I guess you can do that, but it seems unnecessary to me. I've been using OS X since my dad determined it was stable enough to switch from 9.2, around 10.2 Jaguar. It's never made a difference, here.
