never sold a domain before, I'm new to this. have a question:

once someone clicks "buy now" and buys my domain, is there anything I have to do on my end or with my registrar, or does Sedo and my registrar do all the work? Never sold one before so I have no idea. Any paperwork I must do? Since my domain is private, will I have to reveal my personal info to the buyer when a domain is sold? (if they use paypal to pay me I realize some of my info may be shown to them)?

I have no clue how this works so I have to ask. :)

I have never sold a domain name. For me, the domains die for any sites I have owned in the past and decided to close. However, to answer you question, once they have purchased your domain, you will need to unlock it so transfer can occur. You can unlock the domain name in your host account. It has been a while, but if I remember correctly, there is an unlock code involved with this process. Once the domain is unlocked, the person who purchased the domain name then can transfer it.

If the domain name is private or not does't matter. That would fall on the person purchasing the domain if they wished to continue with a private domain. That would be a service they would have to pay extra for.

Just make sure you have received payment and that it clears before you have unlocked your domain name.

cool. thanks for your help. usually I get bored with domains and I just let them expire... .this time I want to make money if I can... I figure if I pay $9 for a domain and sell it for $200, that's a pretty good profit for a little work on my part. :) years ago I had my first and last name as a domain, and I let it expire after a year. A big domain company bought it and was trying to sell it for $4000 for a few years.... I waited them out until it expired, and I just bought it again for $10. I don't really need a domain, its just for playing around with geek stuff.

There are people who purchase domains and then sell them. However, it is kinda like gambling. It is something I wouldn't recommend doing, unless you know what you are doing and have some experience.

But yes, if you could sell it for $200.00 I say go for it. Keep in mind the more traffic you have, the more valuable the domain name is.
