I'm having some iMac issues. Yosemite won't resume download. iMac is version 10.8.5, 2GB and is about 7 years old. Browser is Safari 6.2.2. Also, Adobe Flash player appears to download, but won't install. An error occurs. One more issue that started today: my "beach ball" cursor has changed to blue. Could my Mac be ready for a check up? (Wondering if it's my hard drive) Sorry, but I'm a bit technically challenged. Easy to understand answers are appreciated. Please be patient with me.

You may be having issues with your hard drive. Probably best to first run Disk Utility from your recovery partition and verify the hard drive. Repair if necessary. Also, Yosemite will be a "dog" with only 2 GB in that machine. You really need to have at least 4 GB and most of us recommend 8 GB for best results.

Hi chscag,
And thank you for your reply. I will check out everything you suggested.
It took me awhile to reply back because I haven't been able to get online until now. I realized later that after my last attempt to resume downloading Yosemite ( I thought it was frozen up), that it actually had responded and was finishing downloading. (thus no internet or anything else) The next time I logged in, I was faced with a line up of windows saying I had to do all kinds of things: Reconnect to Wi Fi, update this and update that, etc. Finally, everything is up and running so far. and I didn't lose my photos as I feared, esp. after reading some of the comments on this site. My antivirus may have to be re-installed because of some issues. But, I will take your good advice and check out the hard drive. I have a friend with a computer business who will be able to see if he can get the recommended 4 to 8 GB or if I should get a new Mac altogether. Have a good day and thank you kindly,
bren
