I have an early 2011 mac book pro running OSX 10.9.4. It has the 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 processor with 16 GB of DDR3 Ram. I upgraded the RAM from 4 GB via crucial. I upgraded the OS to Yosemite and began experiencing seemingly random crashes. I went back to the previous operating system with time machine and the problem stopped. I suspect that the upgraded RAM may be the culprit from apples website. Am I stuck with the old OS or is there a fix available?

If the additional memory you put in your MacBook Pro was the problem, it would be a problem regardless of which version of OS X that you're running. Chances are there are other things in play here, not the memory. Did you do a clean install of Yosemite or did you do an upgrade install? Upgrade installs can sometimes be unpredictable depending on your particular system. A clean install usually will result in an upgrade with less problems.

I did an upgrade install. How would I do a clean install? If I were to do the clean install how would I restore my files since time machine reverses the upgrade?

Time Machine does not reverse a clean install. Time Machine never overlays current system files and kexts with ones from an older version. Time Machine will however, restore your data, documents, music, photos, etc. But since you went back to Mavericks, it's probably a good idea to stay there until some more updates are published for Yosemite. In other words, wait for 10.10.1 at least.

Since Yosemite was upgraded the other day I went ahead and try to install it again. I was still getting the crashes so I tried replacing the old memory. I was still getting crashes and I have got the following report.
