Reloading Yosemite
WOW! So glad you are doing better.. Hopefully all will be good and you will have a full recovery.
A clean install may clean up the issues you are having. I agree with Harry, a lot of app's .plist and apps themselves might not have transferred as smoothly as they should. Opening apps and having older files open with them sounds like corruption issues.

Been "off-line" for a while, but I do have a question.
First, when I reformated the system back in Feb or Mar, I loaded OS 10.6 and then installed my programs. When that was done, I upgraded to 10.7, 10.8, 10.9 and finally 10.10 (Yosemite). Version 10.10.3 is my current level.
It sounds like the more prudent thing to do was reformat 10.6 and get to 10.10 BEFORE loading any outside programs like Microsoft Office etc. Is this correct?
The problems I had back in March with the computer are still here and in many cases are worse. I'm seeing more long term "beach balls" and in some cases (10%) requiring shutting off the main power and then restarting. In some cases I've let the "beach balls" run for 15-20 minutes before I shut it down.
So it sounds like a reformat is necessary. I assume my original 10.6 would be the place to start. Should I go directly from 10.6 DIRECTLY to 10.10 or must I "creep" up the ladder from 10.6, to 10.7, 10.8, 10.9 and 10.10?
My medical condition got worse after my last post, which is why there's such a big gap in posting dates. Had an operation to have a small hole (called bur hole) drilled into the left side of my skull and a small plastic drain inserted so the blood that was in the area could slowly drain out. Last CT scan indicated no residual blood.
Slow recovery but doing better. Have not been able to drive a car since the operation - 7-8 weeks ago - but this Tuesday will be my first day back behind the steering wheel. :Blushing:
Anyway, thanks for whatever information you can provide.
