Has anyone had this problem with Yosemite installation - hangs up on final boot up (apple logo with progress bar about 30 % complete). Mac mini.

Yes, I, and lots of people have and the solution was to reboot. Power down and leave for 10 seconds before rebooting.

Had this as normal startup for the Beta version. If pine man's suggestion does not work, unplug from mains power for a few minutes and go again.

Unfortunately Guys none of this worked and had to visit Apple shop. Problem was conflict with BT anti virus so it was removed and now fine. Anyone with BT Internet should beware!

Can you elaborate on this a bit more. I'm curious and I bet there are other members using BT who would appreciate it.

No problem, I use BT Internet and had previously installed the McAfee anti-virus which is included in the deal. This was causing the Mac to hang on start up after installing Yosemite due to a conflict and Yosemite would not not run. The Apple guy uninstalled the anti-virus and Yosemite now runs perfectly. I guess McAfee will update the programme sometime in the future but in the meantime any users should uninstall it to avoid the many hours of wasted time.

Ohh dear antivirus software strikes again. Give McAfee a big, big miss.
