Yosemite Icon Issue

I am having this issue that when I change the default app for any file, it wont update the preview icon, and it still shows the icon of the previous assigned app.
I tried uninstalling the previous app, but it still sticks to it.

It happened with utorrent/transmission. Now its also happening with quicktime/VLC.

How to update the icons with the newly assigned apps?

It's cached. You need to clear your finder cache.

how exactly can I do that?
I recently jumped into MAC world.

Does it need to be done each time I change the default app? or can OS X refresh itself?
