Maverick / Safari had a favorites toolbar across the top. All my bookmarks that were in the toolbar migrated successfully. Now when I'm on a website I can't see any way to get back the the favorites page with all the tiles. Surely there is someplace to click to get back to this page.

Go to View and third down is Show Favourites Bar. Save to Favourites same old way.
