WHy would someone pay $600 for a $200 phone ($200 NEW, not used)? Especially when unlocking how-tos are available on the net.

It's simple, I will explain.

first off the iPhone is only available via At&t in the U.S. with a contract.
Currently there are no unlocks available for the 3.1.3 software and there are none in development either. Which makes models with 3.1.2 very hard to come buy.

And 3rd it's most popular sought after phone in the world, supply and demand.

The $200 price you pay with At&t is subsidized.
