Sorry no such thing as 'super cheap' for Leopard. Auction sites will set you back +$100.00 and anyone having a bunch of copies would be highly suspicious. If you do purchase a copy, make sure it is the black coloured full retail install DVD, and NOT a silver grey model specific disc.

It's been this way for approx. 2 years!;) 10.5 Leopard may be a couple cycles old...but it's the latest & greatest OS for PPC based Macintosh computers!

OS 10.5.8 for PPC based Mac's is just as "new" as OS 10.7.2 is for Intel based Mac's.

Since OS 10.5 Leopard was originally $129 bucks (when it was the most current OS)...$80-$100 now is somewhat less.:)

Remember...you WILL find OS 10.5 gray/silver disks "cheap"...but they won't work & you'll just be throwing your money away...since they are model specific & won't work with your computer.

You need "black" discs with a big "X" on them...and these normally don't sell "cheaply".

Good luck,

- Nick

Thanks for posting this, as I am looking to track down 10.5 Leopard myself. I have the original Mac 0S 9 install grey model discs for my Mac Mini, but now that I know I need the retail 10.5 Leopard install discs. Was about to buy one on ebay the other day, but I thought I'd investigate the differences and glad I did. :)

I had a set of OS X Tiger disks. They came from a 2007 MacBook. So does that mean they will only work on 2007 MacBooks, or that they will only work on MY specific machine?

So in short kriubenis - yes only with that MacBook. The disc is typical of what we describe as silver/grey in colour and not black.
