Would it make sense for me to try and find a TiBook, of the 550-667MHz variety, purchase it and then send it out for Sonnet Technologies 1.2GHz processor upgrade program. Or should I just look for a newly used Powerbook.

*Note: The processor upgrade goes for 499.95 and used Tibooks for maybe 599. I was entertaining a superdrive as well which I found for 134.00 on otherworldcomputing.com

Sensible or No?

Thanks

i dont have no mac's
i vote no.

you are going to be speinding about 1100 dollars to purchase and upgrade your book and you arent going to be able to put as much ram in it as you want and are still going to have an older graphics card and what not. a brand new 12 inch p'book goes for 1500 (plus tax) on the apple site...i'd save the few extra bucks and go for either a new or refurb from the apple store or purchase a relatively new used p'book

what you want to do might be good if you were in a pinch for a new 'book, already owned the old TiBook, but couldnt quite afford a new one so the processor upgrade would be a help

You're hobbled with a slow buss and slow memory, expensive to replace parts, and paint that chips like a good thing. Not worth the investment.
